It had not occurred to me that it could be a krusader bug because it works ok in all other versions of opensuse, so I assumed something in 12.1 changed which made it stop. I also can confirm that this is an openSUSE specific bug, because in Mageia and Kubuntu Krusader view and edit works, same 2.0.0 Krusader version. For me this is also a major feature that is broken and I won't upgrade unless it is fixed. Until now I had to use other ways to edit and view files and that is no fun. No this is not needed AFAIK. This bug is caused by a different way of packaging with KDE 4.7 (The problem in this case is KTextEditor, which is in kdelibs, but the actual implementation is in the kate tarball. This was different before.)
