https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=223763 ------- Comment #3 from jw@novell.com 2006-11-28 10:17 MST ------- Do you happen to have any boot.msg that shows the failed fsck? It failed on your /home partition, but it did not fail on /, when the wrong keyboard was selected. At the maintenance prompt, where you type CTRL-D to reboot, was the setting there already wrong, or just later at normal login? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

When you see this problem again, please check, if /etc/init.d/kbd start can cure it. Without further input, I'll close this as WORKSFORME. Werner, any Ideas on this? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

It was reproducible every single time right after the root passwd prompt when running 2.6.18.2-23-default. Therefore: resolved -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=223763 ------- Comment #6 from werner@novell.com 2006-11-29 03:55 MST ------- IMHO within the failed scenario the /etc/defkeymap.map wasn't generated therefore the default was choosen. After one successful call of /etc/init.d/kbd with a writable /etc/ the /etc/defkeymap.map will be generated and the problem is gone. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=223763 ------- Comment #7 from jw@novell.com 2006-11-29 06:44 MST ------- Hmmm. That would indicate that fsck did not process the disks in the correct order. His /dev/hda6 should have been already checked and mounted as a writable root partition, before his home partition gets checked. Nevermind. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
