[Bug 346424] New: sshd: getnameinfo failed when running on high ports
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=346424 Summary: sshd: getnameinfo failed when running on high ports Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: marc.muehlfeld@web.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- I run sshd that came with openSUSE 10.3. I configured sshd to listen on Port higher than 1024. But if I do, then I get the following errors in my system log on every restart: Nov 28 10:32:33 base sshd[24195]: error: getnameinfo failed This are some option about interface binding out of my sshd_config: AddressFamily inet Port 7022 ListenAddress 192.168.0.1 Port 7022 is also specified in /etc/services. This error ist just shown at the system log. Nothing serious. Im just wondering why it appears and maybe how I can stop it. Maybe anybody have an idea. I posted my issue in comp.security.ssh, where I got the following answer:
Sounds like a bug in getnameinfo() on your OS - as far as I can see, given the way sshd calls it in that case, it should never fail - in particular, it shouldn't even look for an /etc/services entry.
