https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=274042 ------- Comment #9 from HANtwister@comcast.net 2007-05-15 18:26 MST ------- The 'P' option is only documented to the extent of it's use with the 'h' option, as far as the man page goes. shutdown -hP now is supposed to shutdown the computer (power down), and shutdown -P now isn't documented, but it will, at least on openSuSE 10.3, put the computer into 'maintence' mode (a.k.a. runlevel 1). The problem being that shutdown -hP now is doing the same thing as shutdown -h now - the 'P' option is supposed to act as a modifier to the 'h' option (power down ['P'] after halt ['h']), but it is being ignored. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=274042 ------- Comment #14 from werner@novell.com 2007-05-16 09:38 MST ------- Accordingly to the manual page of init the `-P' option should set the environment variable INIT_HALT to the value POWEROFF which is detected in /etc/init.d/halt .. don't know what is going wrong here. In case of only using -h the value of HALT in /etc/sysconfig/shutdown is used. If set to "auto" the an auto detection of acpi in /etc/init.d/halt is performed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
