[Bug 212472] New: after screen resolution resizing video memory (?) is corrupted
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=212472 Summary: after screen resolution resizing video memory (?) is corrupted Product: SUSE LINUX 10.0 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.0 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: bluedzins@wp.pl QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com Dell Latitude D610, screen res 1400x1050. I can use Mplayer or Kaffeine as many times as I want to. But when I change res for example to 1024x786 I can use Kaffeine OR mplayer, but if I change the engine in Kaffeine OR if I use kaffeine(xine) and then mplayer (or vice versa) the screen will be black with some "noisy" artefacts, and blinking. I cannot do anything, but the system is operational for sure, because I can properly shutdown it by pressing power-off button. I set the severity to major because one bug in video driver (I guess) is a threat to whole system. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=212472 ------- Comment #5 from bluedzins@wp.pl 2006-10-16 04:09 MST ------- I don't know what it is. Btw. once again -- I have to change resolution and then I have to use xine & mplayer engine, or mplayer & xine. So, there are three steps to do so. Oh, maybe this help. All the time, there was SVHS/SVideo cable plugged in. When I finish my work I tried to do the same without cable -- I see what will happen. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=212472 ------- Comment #6 from bluedzins@wp.pl 2006-10-16 04:19 MST ------- PS. It is not 100% reproduceable, I will try to note every detail I will spot to give so many information that this bug could be tracked down. However, it will take some time because it is not so often I can risk system "blackout". -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I don't know what it is. STR = Suspend to Ram STD = Suspend to Disk

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=212472 ------- Comment #8 from bluedzins@wp.pl 2006-10-16 05:36 MST ------- I have lid_on_close = suspend to ram Now, I don't remember if I use it (I mean, I closed the lid and open it again) every time before screen resize but sometimes yes, and yes there was this "blackout". I will test it some more. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
