One has to reboot the machine to get graphics again. Only Intel can fix this. The hardware/driver has these issues since i810/i815 hardware. Could you please open a bugreport upstream on bugs.freedesktop.org (product xorg, component: Driver/intel) and add me to Cc (sndirsch@suse.de)? So I can add some Intel developers, who push it to the upstream Intel driver authors? Thanks.
