This seems to be a request to add icons to each of the categories in the GNOME application browser. However, I don't see any reason to do that. The request itself suggests that these icons add "clutter," and the author hypothesizes that they helped him find applications faster, but it's just a hypothesis. He also mentions quite clearly that this only applies to applications he doesn't launch often. But, we've also added a very fast type-to-find feature for such cases.
