The mixed up languages german / chinese. User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0 Fresh installation of openSUSE 12.3 RC2 with german language and GNOME Desktop occurs that the most of YaST and other software tools (like Firefox) are in chinese. For e. g. if I start YaST, the whole overview is in chinese language, but if I click on the "Network settings" icon, the Network settings itself are in german as expected. Same for the GNOME Activities menu. If I start Firefox, the application itself appears in chinese language in the upper bar, but the program itself is complete in german. Also, if I use zypper or yast on cli, the language is also chinese even with root or normal user. A "locale" command at the terminal says as language on every option "de_DE.UTF-8" as default with root and normal user, too. Installed every possible german extra language pack for GNOME, but this doesn't changed anything. Screenshot is attached. Curios: If I install RC2 with german at a VirtualBox VM, everything is going fine. My physical machine is a Lenovo ThinkPad T530. System is fully updated. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Fresh installation under a Lenovo ThinkPad. Actual Results: YaST, zypper and other tools are shown up in chinese. This is an installation from scratch. I've no idea why it failed for you. I'd say translation-wise things are okay with 12.3. Well, I didn't test it with the Xfce desktop, just with GNOME 3. As a third installation try, I was going to use the GNOME LiveCD. While I'm was in the Live Enviroment, everything looked fine so far so the right language was displayed. I installed the GNOME Live CD (this time with en_US language) and again, I ended up with a mixed language setting. This time, the overview of YaST (and so on) is in english, but if I pick the Network Settings (for example) everything appears in chinese. Locale is set to en_US, for normal user and root. Deleted ~/.config/dconf and ~/.local/share/gnome* to ensure that everything is at standard settings again but I didn't get rid of it that way. The problem existed with both architectures. At the last few days (holidays here in germany) I was able to do a lote more testing and found out that it has something to do with my home directory. After adding a new profile I was able to get rid of this issue at all. I don't know why and which files are belong to that problem but for me this problem is solved. I just moved the directorys and files which I need to my new home dir and enabled my GNOME3 addons again.
