[Bug 1002194] New: Image for RPi3 aarch64 does not boot with connected USB disk
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1002194 Bug ID: 1002194 Summary: Image for RPi3 aarch64 does not boot with connected USB disk Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: aarch64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader Assignee: jsrain@suse.com Reporter: freek@opensuse.org QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- I use the image openSUSE-Tumbleweed-ARM-JeOS-raspberrypi3_aarch64.aarch64-2016.09.27-Build6.1.raw.xz obviously on a micro SD on a RPi3. The system boots OK, however when I have a USB disk connected the system hangs, right in the beginning, in scanning for USB disk devices. Without the USB disk it mentions 3 USB devices, with the disk it mentions 4 devices. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

(Just download and extract the .rpm, e.g., in File Roller to get the u-boot.bin and put it onto the FAT partition.) There's also an update to raspberrypi-firmware that just got accepted into Factory today. When using USB disks on the Pis always make sure they are externally powered. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Yes, it is.
There's also an update to raspberrypi-firmware that just got accepted into Factory today.

This did work. I downloaded u-boot-rpi3-2016.09-253.1.aarch64.rpm and installed it on the RPi3 using "rpm -i --force <rpm-file>". This report can be closed when this rpm arrives in the repository. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

That image does not include a U-Boot update, so maybe it is raspberrypi-firmware dependent instead? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I followed the menu to use setenv and entered the command "boot usb0". This did not do what was expected. I used some other U-Boot commands; did see a connected USB disk with the ISO image on it listed. However a connected USB stick with the ISO image on it was not listed. U-Boot did not see that device. After all I could NOT boot from the USB ISO disk. I tried to find some information about support for ISO type disks, seems to depend on conditional compilation settings. I could not find if these are set to support ISO type disks. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I just tested it with this latest image and booting is OK now. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
