I installed the 3.99.9beta package together with its pre-requisite libstdc++46, and I can again use my Reiner-SCT (non-RFID) CardReader. Good, but apparently you have installed the wrong version as the requirement seems bogus. Make sure you install the package fitting your distribution version. (But as long as it works, all is well ;-))
