Fine. Everything updated, then I want to run writer and I see this: Missing vcl resource. This indicates that files vital to localization are missing. You might have a corrupt installation. The program cannot be started. Now OOo does not complains, but crashes after start. I solved it by telling Yast/SM to update all installed OOo packages. It pulled in all packages again, installed them and since then OOo has been working and stable again. I don't know what caused the problem, but the above procedure worked for me.
