[Bug 1175839] New: sg_utils rescan-scsi-bus.sh can't find newly attached scsi devices
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1175839 Bug ID: 1175839 Summary: sg_utils rescan-scsi-bus.sh can't find newly attached scsi devices Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.2 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: dmarkh@cfl.rr.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- The rescan-scsi-bus.sh script in the sg3_utils-1.44~763+19.1ed0757-lp152.2.6.x86_64 does not work. The last working rescan-scsi-bus.sh script was in the OpenSuSE 13.2 distribution. There have been 2 bug reports on this by me since it was broken. The rescan-scsi-bus.sh script from the 13.2 package works properly on Leap 15.x. So why has the script changed. Why does not the sg3_utils-1.44~763+19.1ed0757-lp152.2.6.x86_64 package contain the rescan-scsi-bus.sh script from OpenSuSe 13.2? The problem is that all versions of the rescan-scsi-bus.sh since 13.2 do NOT find scsi devices that have been plugged into the scsi bus after boot time. And, not as important to me, it does NOT remove devices that have been physically removed. Back in 13.2 the script found newly attached scsi devices. lsscsi -g would show them being added. For a scsi device that was physically removed the script would also detect that and the lsscsi -g command would see the device gone. Today the script from the 13.2 package when used on leap-15, only finds new devices. It no longer removes them. I only care about finding new devices. The original bug for this was Bug 909111. It ended up being closed when leap came out. I reopened it but no one has stepped up to fix it. Hence a fresh bug report. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
