Copy paste between host-guest in vmware player does not work The guest tools do not work, it is not possible to copy-paste between host and guest, or guest and host, using the open guest tools supplied by openSUSE. It is also impossible to resize the vmplayer window by pulling on the corner with the mouse. The kernel modules are missing. installed: Eleanor4:~ # rpm -qa | grep -i vm xf86-video-vmware-13.0.1-2.1.2.x86_64 yast2-vm-3.0.2-2.1.4.x86_64 libvmtools0-9.2.3-3.1.2.x86_64 libXxf86vm1-1.1.3-2.1.2.x86_64 udevmountd-0.81.5-2.1.x86_64 xf86-input-vmmouse-13.0.0-5.1.2.x86_64 open-vm-tools-9.2.3-3.1.2.x86_64 libLLVM-3.3-6.4.1.x86_64 lvm2-2.02.98-0.28.1.5.x86_64 Eleanor4:~ # Eleanor4:~ # rcvmtoolsd status Checking for service vmware-guestd running vmtoolsd.service - LSB: VMWare Tools Daemon Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/vmtoolsd) Active: active (running) since Thu 2013-10-31 22:43:37 CET; 1h 53min ago Process: 4420 ExecStart=/etc/init.d/vmtoolsd start (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) CGroup: /system.slice/vmtoolsd.service ├─4455 /usr/bin/vmware-vmblock-fuse -o subtype=vmware-vmblock,default_permissions,allow_other /var/run/vmblock-fuse... └─4470 /usr/bin/vmtoolsd Oct 31 19:08:24 Eleanor4 vmtoolsd[4420]: Starting vmtoolsd FATAL: Module vmsync not found. <<<****** Oct 31 19:08:24 Eleanor4 vmsvc[4470]: [ warning] [GLib-GObject] Attempt to add property ToolsCoreService::tcs-app-ctx a...ialised Oct 31 19:08:24 Eleanor4 vmsvc[4470]: [ warning] [GLib-GObject] Attempt to add property ToolsCoreService::tcs-prop-thre...ialised Oct 31 22:43:37 Eleanor4 vmtoolsd[4420]: ..done Oct 31 22:43:37 Eleanor4 systemd[1]: Started LSB: VMWare Tools Daemon. They are a set of guest operating system virtualization components that enhance performance and user experience of virtual machines. As virtualization technology rapidly becomes mainstream, each virtualization solution provider implements their own set of tools and utilities to supplement the guest virtual machine. However, most of the implementations are proprietary and are tied to a specific virtualization platform. With the Open Virtual Machine Tools project, we are hoping to solve this and other related problems. The tools are currently composed of kernel modules for Linux and user-space programs for all VMware supported Unix-like guest operating systems. They provide several useful functions like: * File transfer between a host and guest * Improved memory management and network performance under virtualization * General mechanisms and protocols for communication between host and guests and from guest to guest Distribution: openSUSE 12.3 Name : vmware-guest-kmp-desktop Version : 9.2.2_k3.7.10_1.1 Release : 2.4.1 Architecture: x86_64 Install Date: 2013-05-01T04:24:58 CEST Group : System/Emulators/PC Size : 331656 License : BSD-3-Clause and GPL-2.0 and LGPL-2.1 Signature : RSA/SHA256, 2013-04-15T09:38:26 CEST, Key ID b88b2fd43dbdc284 Source RPM : open-vm-tools-9.2.2-2.4.1.src.rpm Build Date : 2013-04-08T10:33:39 CEST Build Host : build70 Relocations : (not relocatable) Packager : http://bugs.opensuse.org Vendor : openSUSE URL : http://open-vm-tools.sourceforge.net/ Summary : Open Virtual Machine Tools Description : Open Virtual Machine Tools (open-vm-tools) are the open source implementation of VMware Tools. This bug is really about non working features such as copy-paste between guest and host, and resizing of the guest windows; I thought the fault was the missing vmware-guest-kmp-desktop package (which is the subject of bug 834369). Instead, this bug was caused by the missing open-vm-tools-gui package in RC1, and which appeared in RC2 again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
