[Bug 1200077] New: openSUSE-Leap-15.4-GNOME-Live-x86_64-Build6.157-Media.iso does not boot
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1200077 Bug ID: 1200077 Summary: openSUSE-Leap-15.4-GNOME-Live-x86_64-Build6.157-Media. iso does not boot Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.4 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Live Medium Assignee: fvogt@suse.com Reporter: Ulrich.Windl@rz.uni-regensburg.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- I downloaded openSUSE-Leap-15.4-GNOME-Live-x86_64-Build6.157-Media.iso, verified the SHA-256 checksum OK, and wrote it on an USB stick using "dd". Whenever I try to boot from the stick with my Lenovo TP E15 2nd gen, the boot attempt quickly returns to BIOS. Initially I had tried with Secure boot enabled, but even with Secure Boot disabled, it won't boot (same effect). I could boot Tails 5.0 without a problem, however. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

However I noticed that not just the usual two boot entries (UEFI and legacy) were displayed, but several legacy ones. That might be a bug in the PC's BIOS, or maybe that's the issue that prevented boot on the Lenovo TP. I also noticed that during first boot a third partition was created on the USB stick, adding an ext4 filesystem used as overlay filesystem. Usual expectation of a live system is that it does not change the medium it is booted from, at least not without asking for permission to do so, but that might be a different issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
