If its configured to plain ldap without the use of sssd, the packages pam_ldap and nss_ldap are not getting installed. This makes that a later login with a ldap account fail only an general error. Nss_ldap and pam_ldap should automaticly getting installed when the authentication is set to ldap. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install openSuSE 11.4 RC1 2. Set authentication to ldap at the user creation step (disable tls and sssd) 3. If You set the authentication to network login (or similar) while the default user creation mask and then while machine configuration configure the ldap server. There is a option to disable sssd and configure the ldap server. If in this mask the sssd can be disabled and then ldap without tls is configured. It accepts the configuration then, but doesn't install the then required nss_ldap and nss_pam packages. Since we use ldap servers since many years, in former releases (including 11.3) the required packages where installed successfully. Its maybe possible to select these packages in the software selection but its sould be automaticly installed when this ldap configuration is used. Selected LDAP in first phase (instead of creating user), and got LDAP screen after reboot.
