In text-mode installation tried to load manually releted VIA modules, but manually loading of ahci module fails. If you have a usb stick, after installation system is loaded, switch to command console (ctrl-alt-f2), connect and mount it to /mnt and do 'hwinfo --all > /mnt/tmp/hwinfo.log', 'dmesg > /mnt/tmp/dmesg.log', 'cp /var/log/boot.log > /mnt/tmp/boot.log'. If that doesn't work, switch to console 4 (ctrl-alt-f4) where kernel messages are printed and take a photo of how ahci fails. The problem was in the controller. When using MSI, INTX is disabled to avoid causing IRQ storm on the line. AHCI controllers on those ATI chipsets turn off MSI too when INTX is disabled. :-( I'm wondering whether this is the same problem. The proposed fix for the problem is to skip INTX disabling for those chips. Teddy, can you please test the attached patch?
