[Bug 1001872] New: [Build 0203] KDE PIM5 on Leap 42.2 does not migrate KDE PIM4 data after upgrade from Leap 42.1
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1001872 Bug ID: 1001872 Summary: [Build 0203] KDE PIM5 on Leap 42.2 does not migrate KDE PIM4 data after upgrade from Leap 42.1 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.2 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE Applications Assignee: opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: okurz@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- ## observation KDE PIM5 on Leap 42.2 is expected to use the PIM data from Leap 42.1, i.e. KDE PIM4. At least it didn't work for me. A migration assistant started together with kontact/kmail but was only offering claws mail or thunderbird data. ## test case Given an existing installation of KDE PIM4 on Leap 42.1 with configured email accounts, calendar, etc. When upgraded to Leap 42.2 When starting kontact Then the existing configuration should be used or offered to be migrated ## workaround recreate KDE PIM5 configuration. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

* how is a user supposed to install kdepim5 completely?
Installing pakcages like kontact5, which pulls in all the rest, should be enough. If it doesn't, it's a bug. Can you check the output of "zypper se akonadi" to see if the relevant packages are there? Can you also check if "kdepim-runtime" was installed?
this is the complete output of `zypper in kontact5` ```> sudo zypper in kontact5 root's password: Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... Resolving package dependencies... Problem: kontact5-16.08.1-1.2.x86_64 conflicts with kontact provided by kontact-4.14.10-5.2.x86_64 Solution 1: Following actions will be done: deinstallation of kontact-4.14.10-5.2.x86_64 deinstallation of akonadi-runtime-1.13.0-4.4.x86_64 deinstallation of kaddressbook-4.14.10-5.2.x86_64 deinstallation of kdepim4-4.14.10-5.2.x86_64 deinstallation of kdepim4-runtime-4.14.10-4.6.x86_64 deinstallation of kmail-4.14.10-5.2.x86_64 deinstallation of korganizer-4.14.10-5.2.x86_64 deinstallation of akonadi-4.14.10-5.2.x86_64 deinstallation of knotes-4.14.10-5.2.x86_64 Solution 2: do not install kontact5-16.08.1-1.2.x86_64 Choose from above solutions by number or cancel [1/2/c] (c): 1 Resolving dependencies... Created attachment 697923 [details] Tons of pop-ups after upgrade
The reason is that the PIM 4.x version uses the 4.x based wallet, and the KF5 version the KF5 based one. They are not interchangeable (although the KF5 based one will import the old ones on first start). Also, KWallet for KF5 based PIM is *mandatory* to save passwords. For the actual issue in this report, I would suggest filing a bug upstream about migration (keeping in mind that 4.x is completely unsupported by them). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
