[Bug 539205] New: rfcomm devices not created
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=539205 Summary: rfcomm devices not created Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Milestone 7 Platform: i686 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: radomir.cernoch@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=318249) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=318249) /etc/bluetooth/rfcomm.conf configuration file User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090730 SUSE/3.5.2-3.4 Firefox/3.5.2 I have configured rfcomm service in /etc/bluetooth/rfcomm.conf. When bluetooth starts, the devices /dev/rfcomm[0,1] are not present. In order to get them created, it is necessary to run "rfcomm bind /dev/rfcomm[0,1]" manually. Otherwise bluetooth works well. Reproducible: Didn't try -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

You should instead use the dbus-methods (see "test-serial" from bluez-test as an example). A workaround is to put "rfcomm bind all" into boot.local, but you can never be 100% sure that the device is actually detected and present at the time boot.local runs. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I have been playing with test-serial for a while without much success... I think this issue might be important for quite a lot of people. BTW: Is it already possible to use bluetooth modems with NetworkManager? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

That's not there anymore in 11.2. If you still have it, it's a leftover from an update from earlier versions. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
