[Bug 1090365] New: sddm reads information about all users on startup
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1090365 Bug ID: 1090365 Summary: sddm reads information about all users on startup Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.0 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE Workspace (Plasma) Assignee: opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: lnussel@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- sddm seems to request information about every single entry in the passwd file. In a corporate environment that puts servers under load which may lead to throttling, that in turn makes sddm startup extremely slow. Please find a way to not do that. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I know, it's not using nis though. The corresponding openQA test ticket is https://progress.opensuse.org/issues/9694 https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=981596 is the corresponding bug we had open for longer and openQA tests still refer to that. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The aspect openQA tests is whether DMs switch to a different way to present the user list resp don't show the user list if there are too many. The performance issues sddm causes when reading the passwd file from nis cannot be tested that way though. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
