Moreover 32bit development packages for libbz2 are missing. Sorry about the late reply. I just need this library since one of my applications relies on it (which I usually link statically).
I'm not arguing for the static library to be part of the default installation or anything like that, I just want a package to be available, so that I can install the static library if I need it.
Ubuntu for example does have both the static lib as well as a 32 bit version (dynamic and static).
Hi: OpenSUSE does not provide static libraries, unless they are needed in very specific cases, those cases can be counted with one hand currently. If such case exist, then a -devel-static package is provided.
