Please close this application before trying again. from zypper: localhost:/home/mirek # zypper in mc terminate called after throwing an instance of 'zypp::ZYppFactoryException' what(): System management is locked by the application with pid 5592 (/usr/sbin/packagekitd). Please close this application before trying again. We can't extend libzypp every time some other user of the zypp database comes up and doesn't behave. And packagekit design is to keep the daemon up for 20 seconds, unless someone calls SuggestDaemonShutdown() via dbus. That should be sufficient. The real problem is the global lock. And the global lock has so many dark effects that the lock knowing about other users is not that crazy at all. The right solution, in the long term is to integrate InterProcessMutex and get rid of the big lock. This is fixed and I will submit for next release. It would be very helpful to verify that this is the problem loop or if there is another one also. If you see this again could you throw on the debug PackageKit packages, attach to the never exiting packagekitd process, break on pk_transaction_list_print and see what the "role" value is.
