It delays my shutdown about 30s long. And probably console-kit-daemon crashing at its startup makes next services not start, but I need to know where can I search for specific informations. Is there any console-kit-daemon log saved? For examply, my network, lirc and sometimes xdm services don't start even they're enabled though. I'm using 5th runlevel and these services are enabled. Shall I give you /var/log/messages or /var/log/boot.msg or anything else? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

In /var/log/messages frequently before syslog-ng shutdown line, shown below, appears. Jan 4 01:42:42 livio-desktop console-kit-daemon[1850]: GLib-GObject-WARNING: IA__g_object_get_valist: value location for `gchararray' passed as NULL Of course I've got the segfault too, but info about segfault isn't saved in any logs and can be seen in attachment 250927. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

When console-kit-daemon segfaults, it prevents the proper shutdown of things. I had this happen 2x on Athlon XP hardware, and 1x on x86_64 in the last few days. I will try to get more info but as the machine is totally inaccessible when it crashes, it's not very easy to get. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=443223 User jnelson-suse@jamponi.net added comment https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=443223#c9 Jon Nelson <jnelson-suse@jamponi.net> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEEDINFO |NEW Info Provider|jnelson-suse@jamponi.net | --- Comment #9 from Jon Nelson <jnelson-suse@jamponi.net> 2009-03-24 17:23:26 MST --- This happens to me with some frequency. Last night it happened on my almost-unbelievably stable server at shutdown, necessitating a physical power cycle, since the machine did not reboot. This happens on my laptop more frequently almost every time but I am rarely able to catch it happen on screen before the keyboard locks up. When this happens it happens before the filesystems are unmounted safely and thus I fsck at boot, another not-very-happy occurance. What information can I provide? This seems like a more important bug than the attention it's (not) getting. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
