[Bug 1170399] New: corrupt background following hibernate with Nivdia driver
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1170399 Bug ID: 1170399 Summary: corrupt background following hibernate with Nivdia driver Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.1 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME Assignee: gnome-bugs@suse.de Reporter: admin@different-perspectives.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 836663 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=836663&action=edit X11 log I recently (2 months ago) installed a new GFX card as I got a 2K screen, and installed the Nvidia drivers (compiled from source) as I would like to use the card for lightweight GPU work. I can't use the repo Nvidia drivers as won't install without the 32bit software, and I've tabooed the base 32bit software ... it's unnecessary clutter and doubles the volume of update traffic. Initially I was getting checkerboard corruption on the GDM unlock login screen following hibernate (but not sleep) but now it has extended to the desktop background. The change I made yesterday was to set the desktop background to a solid colour instead of an image. Gnome3 without wayland (I had troubles at the start with wayland) gdm-3.26.2.1-lp151.16.6.1.x86_64 gnome-software-3.26.7-lp151.6.3.1.x86_64 NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-440.64.run uname -a Linux sandown 4.12.14-lp151.28.44-default #1 SMP Fri Mar 20 18:20:20 UTC 2020 (dbf1aea) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux dkms status nvidia, 440.64, 4.12.14-lp151.28.44-default, x86_64: installed hwinfo --gfxcard 28: PCI 100.0: 0300 VGA compatible controller (VGA) [Created at pci.386] Unique ID: VCu0.KGP7vtDHZz2 Parent ID: vSkL.bi8gxtgkeR3 SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/0000:01:00.0 SysFS BusID: 0000:01:00.0 Hardware Class: graphics card Model: "nVidia GP108 [GeForce GT 1030]" Vendor: pci 0x10de "nVidia Corporation" Device: pci 0x1d01 "GP108 [GeForce GT 1030]" SubVendor: pci 0x1458 "Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd" SubDevice: pci 0x375d Revision: 0xa1 Driver: "nvidia" Driver Modules: "nvidia" Memory Range: 0xfc000000-0xfcffffff (rw,non-prefetchable) Memory Range: 0xc0000000-0xcfffffff (ro,non-prefetchable) Memory Range: 0xd0000000-0xd1ffffff (ro,non-prefetchable) I/O Ports: 0xdc80-0xdcff (rw) Memory Range: 0x000c0000-0x000dffff (rw,non-prefetchable,disabled) IRQ: 31 (5312676 events) I/O Ports: 0x3c0-0x3df (rw) Module Alias: "pci:v000010DEd00001D01sv00001458sd0000375Dbc03sc00i00" Driver Info #0: Driver Status: nouveau is not active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe nouveau" Driver Info #1: Driver Status: nvidia_drm is active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe nvidia_drm" Driver Info #2: Driver Status: nvidia is active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe nvidia" Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown Attached to: #26 (PCI bridge) lsmod | egrep -i 'nvidia' nvidia_drm 49152 6 nvidia_modeset 1114112 12 nvidia_drm nvidia 20418560 515 nvidia_modeset drm_kms_helper 204800 1 nvidia_drm drm 491520 9 nvidia_drm,drm_kms_helper ipmi_msghandler 65536 2 nvidia,ipmi_devintf -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
