As you can see there, the behavior was improved in yast2-storage-ng 4.0.193 to behave as requested in this bug report. Unfortunately, yast2-storage-ng 4.0.193 didn't make it to the Leap 15.0 DVD (which includes yast2-storage-ng 4.0.180) and openSUSE does not officially use the installer self-update mechanism.
