Now every time the cable is plugged in, the entire system freezes, can't get even a console to do anything. Only way is to do cold power off and switch on. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Just plug in cable 2. 3. Can you provide the vendor:product id for your device (from `lsusb`)? If possible, it could help a lot to know which kernel/rpm version worked and which one broke. Can you say? If you first switch to a virtual terminal (ctrl-alt-f1) and then plug in your cable do you get any output (ie. from a kernel panic)? If you wait 60s. for the hard/soft lockup detector to kick in, do you get any output then?
