[Bug 427111] YaST2 network freezes when PCI WLAN card when RTL8185 present
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=427111 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=427111#c33 --- Comment #33 from Vladimir Botka <vbotka@novell.com> 2010-09-10 19:15:17 UTC --- (In reply to comment #32)
If I run "Network Devices" in yast, it asks to modprobe ndiswrapper. Whether I say yes or no, it hangs when it gets to probing the hardware (11%).
From the Comment #30 can be seen you got RTL-8185 that is working with rtl8180 driver. You do not need ndiswrapper.
Do you mean remove app ndiswrapper? I scrounged an old linksys usb dongle from an old laptop. It uses AR5513 driver and is "plug & play" but I'm not sure if it is using ndiswrapper to run. If I remove ndiswrapper completely, I can't get back online to restore it. I ran yast --> network devices and it asked to modprobe ndiswrapper. I said "no" and the usb dongle is still working. Need this dongle for laptop, so it is not permanent solution.
Let's try and get the RTL-8185 working first. I believe that you've got some wlan driver installed with the ndiswrapper. List them with "ndiswrapper -l" and deinstall them with "ndiswrapper -r driver". When there are no wlan drivers installed with ndiswrapper left try yast2 network again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
