[Bug 777419] gtk-update-icon-cache is way too slow
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=777419 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=777419#c3 Vincent Petry <PVince81@yahoo.fr> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |PVince81@yahoo.fr --- Comment #3 from Vincent Petry <PVince81@yahoo.fr> --- In your case it seems to take a few seconds. On my system, it takes almost a minute: # time /usr/bin/update-mime-database "/usr/share/mime" Unknown media type in type 'all/all' Unknown media type in type 'all/allfiles' real 0m45.381s user 0m0.460s sys 0m0.196s This makes it painful to install/upgrade packages especially the ones that have mime type updates, because it will run update-mime-database for each one of these packages instead of just once at the very end. I discovered this by running iotop every time I heard the HDD rattling a lot. I just upgraded today from openSUSE 13.2 to openSUSE Leap 42.1 using the DVD, the upgrade took several hours! Would it be at least possible to defer running "update-mime-database" to the very end of a zypper/rpm transaction instead of doing it for every package ? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
