[Bug 219389] New: Problems to use a DELL 2007FP display
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=219389 Summary: Problems to use a DELL 2007FP display Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Action Items AssignedTo: skh@novell.com ReportedBy: Christian.Andretzky@MB.TU-Chemnitz.DE QAContact: adrian@novell.com I was running in a lot of problems to use the DELL 2007FP display. It is detected with no problems during the installation/X-setup but the values used for this display do not work. This means the graphic display is eitzher complete unuseable or only useable in a - other than optimal and in lower quality only - resolution. The solution is to use a special modeline/frequency setting for this display. Here the setting which are working for me (part of the /etc/X11/xorg.conf): . . Section "Monitor" Option "CalcAlgorithm" "XServerPool" DisplaySize 410 310 HorizSync 30-83 Identifier "Monitor[0]" ModelName "DELL 2007FP" Option "DPMS" VendorName "DEL" # VertRefresh 43-76 # use the following line instead VertRefresh 60-60 UseModes "Modes[0]" EndSection Section "Modes" Identifier "Modes[0]" ModeLine "1600x1200@60" 162.0 1600 1664 1856 2160 1200 1201 1204 1250 +hsync +vsync EndSection Section "Screen" # insert the '1600x1200@60' name for the modeline in all 'Modes' lines in this section .. I would like to suggest to insert the definition of this monitor in the sax database. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

See the manual for explanation. So for 1600x1200 really only these values are working. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

The problem ist - it seems definitely not work. I tried the following (after each step I tried to configure the display with sax2 with no success: 1. inserting Your description to /usr/share/sax/api/data/cdb/Monitors 2. adding the '+hsync +vsync' options to the modeline 3. restricting Vsync to 60-60 4. renamed Modeline and Resolution to 1600x1200@60 5. added a line 1600x1200@60=1600x1200 (60 Hz) to /usr/share/sax/api/data/MonitorResolution Now I'm more or less helpless. For me, I have a working solution (see above) but I've absolutely no idea why this doesnt work with sax. BTW, I found the following definition in /usr/share/sax/api/data/cdb/Monitors: #============================================== # Entry created from init stage #---------------------------------------------- DEL:DELL 2007FP { DDC=DELA020 Hsync=30-83 Vsync=43-76 } I've no idea where this cames from. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
