[Bug 1124282] New: Zypper crashes system (root partition full)
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1124282 Bug ID: 1124282 Summary: Zypper crashes system (root partition full) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp Assignee: zypp-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: axel.braun@gmx.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- On big updates, like the recent complete rebuild of TW, it can easily happen that package download uses all available disk space, which results in funny error messages and an unusable system. While an experienced user finds its way around, a less experienced user is lost. Proposed solution: Zypper should check available disk space before downloading packages. maybe download size plus 10 or 20%. You usually do a snapshot before installing, so everything that gets installed will be there twice, the old one in the snapshot, the new one in the actual filesystem. So you would need to check for the total installed size of the packages to be updated, and make sure *that* space is available. That should in all cases be larger than the (compressed) download. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
