(while drawing the dots) process and the squid processes vanish/terminate pretty quickly, and so does the .pid file if im not mistaken. so squid should actually be fine and terminated correctly, nevertheless the rcsquid script hangs there and draws the dots for like 2 or 3 minutes. for example this is pretty annoying during shutdown/reboot on squid-servers or when recycling squid on a machine. anyone care to take a look into this on suse 10.2 am i the only one who experiences this shutdown bug of squid on 10.2? thanks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=223067 ------- Comment #10 from abittner@stud.fh-heilbronn.de 2007-01-18 05:02 MST ------- btw, i think there is something amiss either with my system or with this whole yast/patches/updates/suse release yet again. yast online_updates displays me a huge list of stuff today, although i thought i did all the updates today. for example: a> │squid-2.6.STABLE5 problem with ftp symlink and shutdown │recommend│ but the details below say: Patch: squid Kind: recommended │ │----- this patch is broken !!! ----- │ │squid has a problem when following ftp symlinks, which causes a mangling in │ │the filename of later transfers. The shutdown process takes also under │ │certain circumstances very long as a cleanup in the system isn't done, and │ │which got fixed now. ---- patch is broken? meaning what? says who? the description of the patch itself reads that the patch is broken? or yast telling me that the patch installed (already) on my system is broken? whats going on here... most of the updates in the list say this line.... this patch is broken..... i dont get it. unfortunately, suse is somehow getting worse with each release. it has been a long time since stuff simply worked with suse. :( sorry to maybe hurt someones feelings, but this really annoys me and i still ask myself each and every time over and over again why i actually still order the retail boxes of suse :( oh yes, one more thing because of these updates, maybe i gonna check for bugs in that area too or add a new bug... when i now click on apply all those listed packages i constantly get one strange error telling me that the "screen" package already got installed... but the packages that yast lists and installs have nothing to do with screen or they are not the screen packages.... for example it starts right now with: retreiving nss_ldap.... installing .... nss_ldap....rpm installation of package failed (new box).... details: Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: 2006-12-11 00:12:26 screen-4.0.2-81.i586.rpm install failed┴ rpm output: package screen-4.0.2-81 is already installed 2006-12-11 00:12:26 screen-4.0.2-81.i586.rpm install failed what the heck? i remember there was some screen-update some weeks back, but i get these crazy screen-updat-errors while updating actually other packages since a few weeks now :(((((( aaargh :/ -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
