[Bug 970240] New: GDM flashes does not launch WM
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=970240 Bug ID: 970240 Summary: GDM flashes does not launch WM Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: 2015* Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: ga38zux@mytum.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 668294 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=668294&action=edit rpm -qVa before reinstalls After a crashed system upgrade ("zypper dup") GDM does not correctly start the window manager ("i3"). I only flashes twice and returns to the login screen. Using lightdm instead of GDM works. Packets which were reported by "rpm -qVa" were reinstalled afterwards. The situation remained the same after the reinstalls. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

could be a problem with your WM:
elementary elm_sys_notify_dbus.c:342 _name_owner_get_cb() Eldbus Error: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NameHasNoOwner Could not get owner of name 'org.freedesktop.Notifications': no such name
Could you please explain me, how elementary is related either to i3 or GDM? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The only component in my system I know of that uses elementary is my terminal emulator "terminology". But that is not really related to i3 or gdm. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

And that (together with i3) only shows your good taste :) The question was meant to Bernard as he added us as EFL maintainers... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
