[Bug 1229056] New: after upgrade to Leap 15.6 suspend/resume kills touchpad
https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1229056 Bug ID: 1229056 Summary: after upgrade to Leap 15.6 suspend/resume kills touchpad Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.6 Hardware: x86-64 OS: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: bernd.speiser@uni-tuebingen.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Target Milestone: --- Found By: --- Blocker: --- I recently upgraded Leap 15.5 to 15.6 on a Fujitsu Lifebook E756. Using the new kernels of the 6.4.0 series, after a suspend and resume, the toughpad becomes unresponsive: no mouse movement, no click, no button actions. This all worked fine on Leap 15.5 up to the last kernel version that I had installed (5.14.21-150500.55.68). The only way out is to shut down the machine to halt in a console with Ctrl-Alt-t (a shutdown -r does not work!) and reboot. If I boot into the "old" 5.14.21 kernel from Leap 15.5, which is still available, suspend/resume still works fine. Here is the output of
xinput --list ⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad id=11 [slave pointer (2)] ⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3 [master keyboard (2)] ↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Fujitsu FUJ02E3 id=6 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Video Bus id=7 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=8 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Sleep Button id=9 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=10 [slave keyboard (3)]
before the suspend/resume, and affter:
xinput --list ⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)] ⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3 [master keyboard (2)] ↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Fujitsu FUJ02E3 id=6 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Video Bus id=7 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=8 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Sleep Button id=9 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=10 [slave keyboard (3)]
It seems that the touchpad is no longer detected after resume. Before suspend/resume, device 11 gives:
xinput --list 11 SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad id=11 [slave pointer (2)] Reporting 7 classes: Class originated from: 11. After resume, there is no output to "xinput --list 11". Since suspend/resume works fine with the old kernel, I think the problem is related to the more recent kernels. I am happy to provide additional information upon request. Best regards and thanks for any help. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
