Also from system tray settings>general>extra items, I have software updates unselected but am still getting notifications.
Now that would be strange. How should the applet notify you of anything if it is not even loaded... Please attach a screenshot of your notifications. And just to be sure, logout and in again. Maybe the applet is not really unloaded in the current session when you disable it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Should the settings not give the user a message that they need to log out and back in to apply the settings?
Or ideally really stop/unload the applet. That seems to be a general problem in Plasma/the system tray though, I have heard about similar things with the clipboard applet. Feel free to report that upstream at http://bugs.kde.org/. A complete rewrite of the system tray is ongoing, maybe this will fix it too, no idea. Closing as invalid then though, it is possible to turn off the update notices, and that works. That the notifications appear about every hour is tracked in different bug reports and has been fixed already. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
