[Bug 1021773] New: lightdm does not ask the correct password change sequence when a password has expired
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1021773 Bug ID: 1021773 Summary: lightdm does not ask the correct password change sequence when a password has expired Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.2 Hardware: PC OS: openSUSE 42.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org Assignee: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: comes@naic.edu QA Contact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- I use LDAP for user authentication. If the password on the server has expired, when I login with ssh I get these prompts: Password: Password expired. Change your password now. Current Password: New password: Retype new password: The steps are clear: the old password has expired, and to change it I have to retype the old password and type two times the new one. With lightdm things are less clear. After typing the expired password the message: Password expired. Change your password now. appears. But after that no more messages are shown (do I have to type again the old password or put already the new one?). If I continue to type the password in the correct sequence (old, new, new) then the password get changed and the login process continue. If the sequence is incorrect, then nothing happens and the user is confused about what to do and it doesn't know what it did wrong. There should be more message shown about what password to input. kdm, for example, does the right thing. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
