[Bug 1110412] Color Emoji support is disabled by Noto Emoji (monochrome) and DejaVu fonts
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1110412 http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1110412#c14 --- Comment #14 from Yunhe Guo <i@guoyunhe.me> --- Created attachment 788355 --> http://bugzilla.suse.com/attachment.cgi?id=788355&action=edit Konversation (left) vs Empathy (right) with DejaVu fonts installed I tested emoji with Konversation (Qt 5) and Empathy (GTK3). - DejaVu fonts installed. - Noto Color Emoji fonts installed. - Noto Emoji fonts (monochrome) not installed. - No fontconfig changes. Empathy can render almost all emojis without any monochrome symbols. Konversation uses many monochrome symbols from DejaVu fonts. I got similar results in all KDE 5/Qt 5 applications, like KAddressbook, Kate, qBittorrent, Picard. So it seems that: - Firefox: not affected by DejaVu fonts. - Chromium: not affected by DejaVu fonts. - GTK3 applications: not affected by DejaVu fonts. - Qt 5 applications: affected by DejaVu fonts!!! So I will report this bug to Qt and KDE. Let's see if they have some good solutions. And we probably won't drop DejaVu fonts because many applications can support it very well. It is kind of application specific problem, not font specific problem. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
