[Bug 537350] New: Installation does not finish with autoconfiguration=on
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=537350 Summary: Installation does not finish with autoconfiguration=on Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mt@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=317165) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=317165) Screenshot showing that yast2 is death Installed from factory (2009-09-08) using openSUSE-NET-x86_64-Build0264-Media.iso in virtualbox, with automatic configuration 'on'. The installation stops while the autoconfiguration is running, yast2 seems to be death (happened already with Build0254 on 2009-09-02). The machine is pingable. Without automatic configuration yast2 crashes and is started again and again on every reboot. In the left vbox window (at least), I've disabled the firewall. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

When I see traces like that, they're almost invariably VirtualBox bugs. I've already installed M7 several times with automatic configuration enabled and it's succeeded. But just closing it as invalid makes IMO not much sense. When this is a virtualbox problem, a seek for a fix of virtualbox (on 11.1) would be cool - reassigning to the maintainer with lower importance and reseted ship-stopper flag. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I just installed 11.2 x86_64 on my MacBook as a guest in virtualbox 3.1. First try was with autoconfig and second was without but result was the same both times. The second part of the install doesn't complete successfully. I was booted into runlevel 5 with a login screen but the user I created was not available and I could only log in as root. No repos were added to software management. Subsequent reboots switch from graphical to text with much output in text mode and then ends with the YaST screen that says part of the install failed and I may need to put in some information again. After pressing enter, it takes me to the KDE log in screen. The system seems to be working fine once I'm logged in. I was able to add repos and a regular user with auto login that continues to work. Every reboot takes about twice as long as usual and results in the YaST error screen I described above. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
