The problem is more serious because opensuse Leap 15.4 does not contain an official Modem Manager package, only version 1.12 is available. This version is 3 years old and cannot handle today's WWAN adapters found in Dell and Lenovo laptops. SUSE does not provide a fresh package for this steel, only the build.opensuse.org packages remain, but unfortunately they do not work on Leap 15.4. It would be very helpful and useful if SUSE would provide the basic packages and their continuous updates in the official repositories. Today's WWAN adapters require at least Modem Manager 1.18 or the latest version 1.20, but the beta-tested Leap 15.5 will only include version 1.18. What is the solution to this, because it is not possible to use the mobile internet? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

(In reply to Istvan Sipos from comment #4) Just out of curiosity which WWAN device it has and is it supported by ModemManager?
This is an Lenovo P51 Gen 2 notebook with Quectel EM160R-GL WWAN modem. This modem supported by ModemManager 1.18 and 1.20 but earlier Modem Manager doesn't support it yet. I tested this WWAN modem on Ubuntu and openSUSE Tumbleweed and it works with ModemManager 1.18 and 1.20 version used lenovo-wwan-dpr what runs by snapd. Of course I need to create manually a link form /etc/ModemManager/fcc-unlock.d to /usr/share/ModemManager/fcc-available.unlock.d (recommended by modemmanager developers). I tested illuusio's packeges from build.opensuse on Tumbleweed and Leap 15.4 and it works on Tumbleweed but doesn't work on Leap 15.4. Unfortunately I don't find what is the problem on Leap 15.4 I have an short error message: ModemManager.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=127/n/a ModemManager.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Yes this needs little bit more gdb and debugging as some part is now sigsegving. I don't have Queltec but I have following weeks check if it's working with other WWAN device that does not work with openSUSE 15.4 ModemManager. That's why I especially value your help. I also tried to review the differences regarding the Tumbleweed and Leap builds, but I didn't find anything that could cause a problem, but while it is running on Tumbleweed, the Modem Manager does not start on Leap. Yes newer WWAN devices rely newer libqmi which is in my experience the keypart but you need new ModemManager to use newer libqmi. All these packages are in my repo: libqmi-*, libmbim* and libqrtr-glib* which are needed to make it work they are compiled from Factory to openSUSE 15.4. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Again this just what I would do. What SUSE or owners tells you todo is another thing. So this is not official anyway: These must do as root and some of them easiest do in console. Of course all can be done in YaST2. First add correct repo zypper ar -f https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/illuusio/15.4/home:illuusio... then launch yast2 and software management search in YaST2 software management libqmi. There should be package libqmi5-glib down from package info there should be versions tab (if you are in graphical UI and if not just go with the tab key) and choose version which comes from home:illuusio (there is mark) and then do the same with libmbim* and libqrtr* which are installed then if it does not complain anything just push accept button and install new version. Then test ModmemManager is it working. There is possibility you need to reboot. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I think to make it work home:illuusio should have greater priority than basic installation media from openSUSE but it should be addressed as ffmpeg does it same it if you install from Packman you have to manually install them. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
