[Bug 214233] New: Apache2 and PHP 5 installed together causing DirectoryIndex overwrite for vhost.template
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=214233 Summary: Apache2 and PHP 5 installed together causing DirectoryIndex overwrite for vhost.template Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jonm@xmission.com QAContact: qa@suse.de When PHP5 is installed on a system having the Apache2 server and the vhost.template is used to create a host.conf the DirectoryIndex in the php5.conf overwrites any other DirectoryIndex with index.php This happens because the template has an include statement that includes any conf in the conf.d directory and php5.conf just happens to live in this directory. Additionally the php5.conf file is in error because it includes the following list of directives that can override each other: DirectoryIndex index.php3 DirectoryIndex index.php4 DirectoryIndex index.php5 DirectoryIndex index.php -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=214233 ------- Comment #1 from judas_iscariote@shorewall.net 2006-10-21 00:32 MST ------- Peter : what you think about removing DirectoryIndex index.php3 DirectoryIndex index.php4 DirectoryIndex index.php5 I alredy removed index.php3 'cause php3 code is not even parsed by PHP5, currenly, the only "official" extension is .php.. the user may add the other if needed... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=214233 ------- Comment #2 from jonm@xmission.com 2006-10-21 03:02 MST ------- I would personally prefer that they all be removed. The problem is that I expected this directive in one of the other .conf file. When it showed up here it actually broke the server by not alowing a site with a index.htm to index file to launch properly. So there are really 2 problems here. The first that all 4 directives discussed here override any other previous DirectoryIndex directive in the .conf files. The second problem is that having this directive in this .conf file 4 times is misleading. To be technically correct it must be something like: DirectoryIndex index.php index.php4 index.php5 Remove them and the problem is solved. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

DirectoryIndex works accumulative for me. If it wasn't, we would never had a working Apache setup in products we sold the last 5 years ;) Unless I'm misunderstanding something.
