Luckily a google search for "reiserfs_xattr_shutdown" shows up with only 7 hits, including this report. 4 hits refer to a patch published on reiserfs-devel on 2010-06-04 which is still not in vanilla kernel: http://kerneltrap.org/mailarchive/reiserfs-devel/2010/6/4/6881324 2 hits point to the commit of this patch in suse kernel at January 2011: http://gitorious.org/opensuse/kernel-source/commit/88f26ac77eba95362277bc9ba... Currently I'm on a gentoo system with lvm on md mirror disk. I tried above patch on my kernel 2.6.36-gentoo-r5 and lost the abilty to boot as the root device could not be mounted.
