Even the installation failed to connect to the repositories. It would not get set by DHCP and when I turned off the option and set it manually, it still didn't get into the routing table. A default route is clearly set in YaST but does not appear to get set. With "Wicked" I set the default gateway in YaST. I can see what I set in the config file /etc/sysconfig/network/ifroute-eth0. But the route never gets set when the system or networking is restarted. Paul, you are using /32 as the netmask, was it intentional?

Now that was a good hint :-) If I use /24 as 'Subnet Mask' in Yast 'Statically Assigned IP Address' then 'route' command now gives the expected paths linux-64l2:/etc/sysconfig/network # route Kernel IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface default 192.168.131.100 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0 192.168.131.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0 I think Yast should complain about /32 as Subnet Mask instead of creating a system without gateway (and leaving the user clueless) ?
