[Bug 697884] New: Setting of "enable desktop effects" defaults to "off" after logoff/login (every session)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=697884 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=697884#c0 Summary: Setting of "enable desktop effects" defaults to "off" after logoff/login (every session) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: fabian.herschel@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Community User Blocker: --- I have updated from openSUSE 11.3 to openSUSE 11.4 and used a brand new home directory. Than I tried to switchon the desktop effects in controlcenter -> desktop effects. When I switch the effects on I could configure the details and they work in the current gnome session. When I start a new session (logoff/logon) the effects are switched off. This is reproducable in my installation at one laptop - but other installations (without an update background) seam to work proper. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I did the change in /usr/bin/compiz-manager 2. Logoff 3. To be sure to also get a complete fresh Xorg I run "init 3; init5" as root 4. Logon as my home user 5. Desktop effects where active! Together with other components like NVIDIA's GLX extension. The reason is not to conflict with system libs/drivers and just to prefer the stuff below "updates" directory. I seriously suggest to fix the compiz-manager script instead. When I login via kdm/gdm after a fresh reboot I still get not the desktop effects activated.
