[Bug 744874] New: Last round of updates horribly broke LS-120 support
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=744874 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=744874#c0 Summary: Last round of updates horribly broke LS-120 support Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: roland@logikalsolutions.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:9.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/9.0.1 Before the update, you could stick a disk in the LS-120 drive and it would show up in Dolphin once it got done whirring. Now it no longer shows up in Dolphin or in /media. Reboot the machine in DOS 7.1 and the drive works fine. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Stick in a known working disk 2. 3. Actual Results: item never appears in Dolphin or /media. Drive no longer auto-mounts Expected Results: Should appear in Dolphin like it did just last week. LS-120 drives (and even 240s) are used by many people, especially in the professional writing and research world for project and document backups. Some sources say more LS-120 disks are sold than 3.5" floppies these days. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Logged out and logged back in to KDE.
Left Dolphin closed.
Stuck LS-120 disk into drive and watched it whir for a while then stop. Notification window DID NOT POP UP.
Opened Dolphin. Mitbish icon showed up. Clicking on icon allows access to drive now.
Just want to double confirm with you, did you mean you can access(read/write) the ZIP disk normally, everything is OK just it didn't auto-mounts? Hi Roland,
Did you capture the solid-hw.log?
Given the problem, my clients forced me to move to Ubuntu several months ago. I no longer have any ability to test this under OpenSuSE as the last machine with OpenSuSE doesn't have one of these drives. It is also slated to be upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS over the weekend. I guess you can close this bug and if I ever have the opportunity to return to OpenSuSE I can see if the problem is still there.
