That thing eats about 100% of my dual-core system for 10 seconds whenever I do anything with it (move it, resize it, scroll it, click on an icon). While it is active, I can move the mouse and that's it. The system doesn't react to keyboard, mouse clicks, anything. Is this for a local file system? I clicked on the little swirl icon in the upper right corner of my display (which is gone by now ... how do I get it back?) 2. I selected "Desktop-Files" 3. I got a new "window" (probably a plasmoid; I'm really not fluent with KDE4). It looks like this: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qapdbswj4rA/SRtDXy0gTBI/AAAAAAAAAGY/gXDkA0dsX-c/s1... I have 262 files in the folder ~/Desktop and my display is 3520x1200 on two physical monitors (one 1600x1200, the other 1920x1200). Most of the files are MP3s. I don't know what you mean by '"Desktop Activity"/background'. ~/Desktop is on the local file system and I have not changed any settings (or I'm not aware that I might have). Some ideas what might have caused it: - Creating preview icons in the "main" thread - Examining file types in the "main" thread - Deadlock with Nepomuk Note that I had to disable Nepomuk even in 4.2 since it eats too many resources. Since I can't reproduce the behavior anymore, I've closed the bug.
