The xor code uses ".align 32" to make sure the code fits neatly into a small number of cache lines. This should insert 'nop' instructions (0x90) but seems to be inserting '0x00' which doesn't do the same thing. I'll see what I can find out. Thanks for the report. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

But CCing binutils expert who may have more of a clue. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=256054 ------- Comment #6 from matz@novell.com 2007-03-21 06:28 MST ------- Please attach a testcase. The fill bytes used to align depends on the section the .align directive is in. This filling is done by binutils, not gcc. The fill sequence itself isn't necessary 0x90 (NOPs) but maybe some different no-op instructions. Depending on the section you're in the filling sequence might also have been changed by the linker script, of which I believe the kernel uses an own one. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
