[Bug 557611] New: Unable to make any search using field Search All Notes in Tomboy.
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=557611 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=557611#c0 Summary: Unable to make any search using field Search All Notes in Tomboy. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: toomany@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; es-ES; rv:1.9.1.4) Gecko/20091016 SUSE/3.5.4-1.1.2 Firefox/3.5.4 You make click-left over tomboy icon, this show you a menu with the Search in All Notes option. When you select this option a windows appears with a Search field, and under this field an "inside window" with all of your records. Ok. In my tomboy app, the field Search appears with a grey colour (the same color like the menus of this window), and I cannot able to put any text inside it. Curiosly, if I change the session to IceWM or Gnome it's works fine, without any problem. The problem (important) is under KDE4. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. left-click over tomboy icon. 2. mark Search in All Notes. Actual Results: The same described above. Expected Results: Search field in colour white and ready to type anything to find. Sorry for the "severity", but I work a lot of with Tomboy, and I have a lot of notes into it. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I'm not sure how the distribution guys do their bugs, but since there's no loss of data or crashing, I would expect this to be downgraded to Major, or even Normal since you can work around this by using the --search option on the command line. For example, running this command will cause the Search All Notes window to open, and even though you won't be able to edit the search query text, it will perform your search: tomboy --search "my search phrase" That should work whether Tomboy is running or not (if not running, it should start it). Now that I have a KDE VM set up, I'm going to see if I can figure out what's going on here, but I'm a GNOME guy so if it's KDE-specific stuff I may not be much help. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I tried doing some obvious things in the Tomboy code (making sure the field is marked sensitive, etc), but had no luck fixing it. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Changing back to QtCurve makes the bug reappear. However, selecting some other GTK+ themes like Crux and Gilouche also causes the bug to occur, even though those themes work fine with Tomboy when using GNOME instead of KDE. Changing between KDE themes did not help. I do not have time to test another distro's KDE. Any guidelines for filing the bug upstream, given that selecting some GTK+ themes that don't trigger this bug in GNOME, does trigger it in KDE? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Changing GTK+ theme to Clearlooks makes the bug go away. Changing back to QtCurve makes the bug reappear.
I'm trying this with Clearlooks and runs fine
However, selecting some other GTK+ themes like Crux and Gilouche also causes the bug to occur, even though those themes work fine with Tomboy when using GNOME instead of KDE.
At this moment this solutions works fine and make usable the application without running it with the "--search "something"" flag. I hope the KDE guys solve this little problem. Thank you very much for your job and interest.
