https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=379477 Summary: "removable drives and media" control panel a misnomer Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Alpha 3 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: hfiguiere@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- The "removable drives and media" control panel is a misnomer. Actually none of the 4 tabs deal with removable drives or media. If this is a bug in upstream GNOME, then we should anticipate the fix in openSUSE 11. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

We're ending up with bugs like this now because we're using a patch that is not complete... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It doesn't actually handle /volumes/ at this point. Is this an upstream issue? Does g-v-m effectively do anything at this point? Where has the functionality been moved? Where is the UI for turning on/off the auto-mounting of volumes? Do the old GConf keys mean anything? None of my volumes get mounted in 11b1, and I am suspecting g-v-m. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

All I see here is a list of programs for handling various media. So I'm a bit confused by this all. In the past we had g-v-m listen to hardware events from HAL, it would mount any volumes based on some policy, and HAL would then reflect this. So what does mounting now? Does gvfs do it? Does Nautilus do it? Maybe this is not the appropriate bug, but since this is all a bit confusing... I have a few keys in GConf set, possibly left over from my 10.3 install: /desktop/gnome/volume_manager/automount_drives = true /desktop/gnome/volume_manager/automount_media = true Are these keys obsolete? I'm guessing so since I also have: /apps/nautilus/preferences/media_automount = true I don't see any UI in the Media tab in Nautilus' File Management properties that is mapped to this key though. Furthermore, all of these are set to true, but no volumes actually get mounted. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I went to reboot to see if mounting would work, and I ran into bug #383464 (shutdown dialog disabled). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
