[Bug 764337] New: apper offers programs for update that are marked as "keep" in yast2
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=764337 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=764337#c0 Summary: apper offers programs for update that are marked as "keep" in yast2 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp AssignedTo: zypp-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:12.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/12.0 I stumbled over this through the current amarok / mysql issue. To make amarok work, I downgraded mysql, marking it as "do not upgrade" as otherwise I would have to downgrade over and over again. Even though apper offers the upgrade: openSUSE-2011-273 - update for mysql-community-server what may be correct - however, I think that a "mark as keep" application ought to be kept, though there are updates in the update tree. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. downgrade mysql due to the current amarok issue 2. start apper 3. look and see ... Actual Results: see above Expected Results: no upgrade suggestion ... This is a major issue IMHO since rules the admin sets up ought to be obeyed IMHO -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

If it's still reproducible with 12.2 please adjust the report. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Even though apper offers the upgrade: openSUSE-2011-273 - update for mysql-community-server
These are different items: The patch openSUSE-2011-273 conflicts with a 'buggy/vulnerable' installed mysql version, that's why the patch is shown as 'needed'. That's independent from mysql being locked; it's nevertheless the 'buggy/vulnerable' version installed which could be fixed by the patch. Applying the patch, zypper will raise a conflict because mysql is locked. You have to decide whether to keep the 'buggy/vulnerable' mysql or not. If you do not want this patch to be offered again, you should lock the patch: zypper al patch:openSUSE-2011-273 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
