Neither to Linus' nor to Eric Anholt's one. Before this has happened we can't integrate such a patch to our kernel. Thus I would like to ask you to report this issue upstream on bugs.freedesktop.org according to http://intellinuxgraphics.org/how_to_report_bug.html and add the following Bugzilla accounts to Cc: eich@pdx.freedesktop.org kent.liu@intel.com mhopf@suse.de quanxian.wang@intel.com sndirsch@suse.de You'll need to register for an account on bugs.freedesktop.org first, in case you don't have one yet. Actually there was already a bugreport that I missed earlier: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25901
But that's for Macbook4,1. In that bugreport you write that you have a Macbook3,1, but now you suggest to add a patch, which adds support for Macbook1,1.Now I'm completely confused. In Linus' tree there is already support for MacbookPro 3,1/4,1, which might be completely different to Macbook 3,1/4,1. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

IIRC, the Pros all use Nvidia cards while macbooks use Intel. Also the Ubuntu patch was reported to work for Macbook 3,1 but I haven't tested it yet. I will see if it works tomorrow. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

That would mean that all Macbook variants (1,1 , 3,1 , ...) are detected via DMI as "Macbook1,1". There are now two patches that would include all remaining apple laptop models: http://lkml.org/lkml/2010/3/9/418 and http://lkml.org/lkml/2010/3/10/126 Also, I believe the proper branch is Richard Purdie's linux-rpurdie-backlight branch: http://git.o-hand.com/cgit.cgi/linux-rpurdie-backlight/ but my patch still hasn't been committed :( I'll keep searching through git logs and let you know if/when it gets committed. If there is anything else I can do, just let me know (recompiling my kernel for backlight support after every update is getting old). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
