opensuse 11.3 overheats toshiba laptop because the fan does not come on when it is supposed to. 11.2 has the same issue. Is there any Linux kernel/dist that already did work we could compare with?

You're sure it's not a hardware problem like broken temperature sensors?

Hm, it seem to get overruled by acpi=on..., best remove both.
