[Bug 653497] New: YaST Software Manager does not update packages remaining during package installation
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=653497 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=653497#c0 Summary: YaST Software Manager does not update packages remaining during package installation Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Milestone 3 of 6 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: gfarrell@netspeed.com.au QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=400094) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=400094) Screenshot of text above bottom indicator not updating User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 SUSE/3.6.12-1.2 Firefox/3.6.12 When installing packages, the YaST Software Manager does not update the 'packages remaining' details above the bottom proportional indicator. While the proportional indicator and the associated 'percentage done' figure update correctly, the text appearing above does not. When installing 127 packages, the associated text remained at 'Installing Packages... (Remaining: 617.94MB, 127 packages)'. See attached screenshot. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open YaST Software Manager and install some packages. 2. Observe the text above the bottom proportional indicator. Actual Results: The text remains static during the installation of the packages. Expected Results: The text should have updated after the installation of each package. For example, after 10 packages had been installed, it should have said 'Installing Packages... (Remaining: 598.14MB, 117 packages)' (MB figure is a guesstimate for the example only). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

No, DownloadInAdvance mode is not set:
# cat /etc/zypp/zypp.conf | grep commit.downloadMode ## commit.downloadMode =
The value is unset, so: ## <UNSET> If a value is not set, empty or unknown, we pick ## some sane default. And yes, for 11.4 the default - if you install in the local system (root=/) - is now DownloadInAdvance. Many people asked for that, as it gives better results if the network connectivity is bad. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
